What is Neighborhood Preservation? PDF Print E-mail

Formerly known as Code Enforcement, Neighborhood Preservation is a division of the Community Development Department.  It is our goal to maintain and improve the quality of life through education and communication within residential, commercial and industrial areas of our City.

Neighborhood Preservation Officers work both in the field and in the office.  In the field they are responding to complaints, conducting on site inspections, determining when a violation exists and will work with our residents in educating and seeking voluntary compliance.  In the office, they are researching municipal codes, zoning, land use, updating cases with inspections of the day and responding to our resident’s questions and concerns.

To accomplish our goal, the City has adopted the standards set forth in the Uniform Housing Code and has been diligently working on new City Ordinances.  As we partner with the residents and businesses within our City, we are looking to increase public awareness of our City’s Ordinances and Municipal Codes and seek voluntary compliance when violations are identified.  In situations where violations continue, we have a fair and unbiased compliance process that includes fines, civil and criminal prosecution to bring blighted areas into compliance.

If you have any questions please contact our Neighborhood Preservation Division by calling (626) 384-5470, or e-mail us at: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .
