Location: Covina Public Library, Literacy Area (upstairs)
The Literacy Program provides adults and children with free student-centered instruction in reading, writing and speaking to help them reach their full potential at school, work, home and in the community. Professionally trained volunteer tutors are carefully matched with children and adults who wish to improve their literacy skills.
All students are tutored in one-to-one settings and get individualized reading instruction twice per week. Students thrive with the caring attention of one person who serves as both a tutor and a role model. Students are motivated and their self-esteem improves dramatically after a few tutoring sessions.
Funding Sources: CLLS Grant ( California Library Literacy Services) and the Friends of the Covina Public Library.
