Looking for a job? A new free resource is available to help simplify your search. Work Radius, an internet based kiosk designed to pool information on area job opportunities, is now available at Covina City Hall. Provided at no cost to the City by LA Works, the City’s workforce development partner, Work Radius organizes and displays thousands of job postings from public and private organizations. This process simplifies the often daunting task of looking for work by combining listings from job boards, advertisements, and other resources, and helps the user narrow the search to fit his/her unique qualifications. Work Radius is available to the public in the Human Resources office of Covina City Hall, 125 E. College Street, during regular hours, Monday – Thursday, from 7 am to 6 pm.
Work Radius is an important reference tool for the professional staff who help residents find work. Although the City of Covina, like most local governments, has implemented staffing reductions and hiring freezes, Human Resources staff continue to offer friendly help to residents seeking employment, pointing the job seekers to opportunities available elsewhere. Work Radius simplifies this assistance and provides for more efficiency. “Here in Covina we are doing everything within our power to help generate jobs and match those jobs to our residents,” said Covina Mayor Peggy Delach. “Our economic development efforts are centered on support for existing businesses and the jobs they provide, as well as bringing new businesses to town. Covina partnered with many area agencies last year to host a very successful Job Fair, but the need continues. We are proud to again partner with LA Works to add the Work Radius kiosk, another valuable and much needed resource.” LA Works offers many resources for those seeking employment.
